The Vast Landscape of Peru.

by Kay Wiegand , 2011

I travelled through some countries in South America in autumn and winter 2011, and this also included a trip to Peru.

Peru has impressed me from the beginning; not only by the hospitality of its people, but in particular because of the vast nature of the country. Peru offers such a wide range of experiences that it can be difficult to choose between them.

The pacific coast and islands, deserts, the Amazon, the Andes Mountains and the Lake Titicaca are probably the most popular attractions. In addition, you'll find find many cultural highlights of the Inca history, for example Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail.

The towns and hikes in the highlands with the wonderful landscape was my personal highlight. If you enjoy nature, you will definitely love it. The first thing we were served upon arrival was a cup of coca tea, a traditional remedy for altitude problems and just about any other health problems in this area. With the coca tea, you're ready for all the fascinating hikes through the mountains and ready to discover the Inca secrets. Apart from traditional tea, the Peruvian food is also highly recommended.
