We call them tourists; in Japan, similar disoriented visitors are called "Gaijin". We are Gaijin; we are hopeless.

As alien as the language was the country itself. We had 10 days and covered 2.000 miles in a 4WD hi-ace van hoping to immerse ourselves in its absolutely unique snow culture.
