Myanmar Is A Fascinating Place, Where You'll Find Beautiful People.

by Roy del Vecchio , 2011

I visited the country in 2011.

The first impression on my night arrival at Yangon was typical of a Southeast Asian country, but with a more relaxed atmosphere than neighbouring countries. Passing through night markets in my 1970's cab, young Buddhist novices on the street, seeing the night lit Shwedagon Pagoda was unforgettable.

Besides Yangon, I went to Mandalay, Bagan, Amarapura and did a three day trekking in the Shan State. Because of the visa I couldn't stay longer than three weeks, but Myanmar makes you want to return to this country full of magical places.

I hope it stays like this for a long time, but tourists are flooding the place, so change is inevitable.
